Cooperative Care Training

All dogs start off by going to the vet as young puppies - vaccinations, exams, weight checks and for spay/neuter procedures. These multiple visits imprint upon a puppy what the veterinary office means to him or her. Most of the time, it’s quite over whelming and negative associations can tend to develop. This can affect adult dogs as well.

Not all dogs will be ok with being poked with a needle or restrained by your hospital’s veterinary staff for procedures such as an x-ray. This is where cooperative care training comes in - I go over all the possible scenarios in where your dog might have to be restrained for a blood draw, made to lie down for an x-ray or ultrasound or simply being able to check their mouth for proper dentition/oral health. Then, I provide solutions and a training regimen that will focus on making your dog more comfortable for typical restraint for blood draws, x-rays, physical exams, vaccinations.

I Will also provide information on muzzle usage and training. Muzzles are a tool and when used appropriately, can be a great comfort for your pet and hospital staff alike.
